Opetaia's rise continues

Australian Cruiserweight Champion Jai Opetaia has claimed the WBO Asian Pacific title and has moved to number 14 in the WBO rankings.

Once again donning the famous Rabbitohs logo on his shorts, Opetaia made easy work of his Germany's Lukas Paszkowsky, defeating the German Cruiserweight Champion inside two rounds at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Brisbane.

On a high after securing the German title after just six fights, Paszkowsky was ready for his next big scalp but he was no match for the Aussie-Samoan southpaw, who quickly put his opponent on the floor with a strong left cross in the first round.

From then on it was only a matter of time before Opetaia closed out the match, as another left hand dropped Paszkowsky to the canvas.

Opetaia wasted little time in finishing off the fight, hitting Paszkowsky with a flurry of punches, forcing referee Phil Austin to step in and end the fight as the German's legs started to give way.

Opetaia's dominant victory is the third fight in-a-row where his match-up has failed to last more than three rounds, proving to critics that he has the power after another impressive display of good hand speed and unbreakable defence.

With the win, Opetaia continues his rise up the WBO rankings and his management is currently working on his next opponent with a possible fight to defend his Title in late July this year.
