South Sydney Rabbitohs forward Mark Nicholls has taken on an ambassador role for the Special Olympics, which will see him promoting participation in sport for people with an intellectual disability.
Nicholls' first engagement as an Ambassador was to attend the Special Olympics 'Laugh out Loud' breakfast and promote the Special Olympics Cup, which will be played between the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in Round 18 of the NRL.
This will be the seventh time the two sides have played for the Special Olympics Cup, with the Rabbitohs holding the honours with four wins to two.
Nicholls spoke about the important role sport plays in our community and explains how much he's looking forward to the new role.
"Playing sport is a great way to meet new people and build friendships," said Nicholls.
"It is really important we make these opportunities available for people with an intellectual disability."
"Making sport accessible is something I'm passionate about, and I'm looking forward to the challenge of building the profile of the Special Olympics."
