Members Support Very Important: Cook

In a season full of ups and downs, Rabbitohs hooker Damien Cook says that the support shown by fans and members made him feel at home in his debut year in the Red and Green.

After coming across to the South Sydney Rabbitohs for season 2016, Cook was welcomed with open arms by the Red and Green faithful – something the livewire dummy-half is grateful for.

“It’s very important to have the support of the members and fans. I really appreciate the kind words that they say when I see that at the ground or outside of footy,” said Cook.

“I went through a tough period of not playing and then when I was playing, I always had 100% of their support, so I really appreciate that.”

In addition to the acceptance received from the fans, Cook believes that the opening encounter against the Sydney Roosters and the Round 26 victory against his former side proved to be the most enjoyable moments of his season.

“Definitely a highlight for me would be my first game for the Club,” said the rake.

“There’s a lot of history behind this Club, so it was very exciting to play that Round 1 game.

“The highlight after that was beating the Dogs (Bulldogs) in the final round.”

After completing his maiden season with the Rabbitohs, Cook is now looking forward to taking some time off before preparing for 2017.

“I’ll relax and rest the body a bit – just freshening up.

“I’m getting away to New York in October, so that should be good for a couple of weeks.”

Playing every minute of the final five games of the season whilst averaging 41 tackles, Cook will be looking to carry over his end of season form into 2017.
