Rabbitohs recruit Dean Britt visited the Simply Energy High Performance Centre at Redfern Oval yesterday for the first time as he starts his new contract with the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
"It's pretty exciting, something different obviously but I'm really excited," Britt explained.
"It's all happened pretty quickly so I don't really know what to expect just yet but can't wait."
Britt recently made his NRL debut with the Melbourne Storm in Round 15 against the Cowboys and is looking to continue to add more games to his name with an attitude Head Coach Michael Maguire would be excited to see.
"I'm going to be doing everything I can to play NRL and enjoy my football.
"It's been a big couple of weeks for me. It was a special time for me to make my NRL debut but keen to hopefully get a run with the Rabbits sometime this year."
Originally from Camden, Britt returns home to Sydney after a lengthy period away representing the Melbourne Storm U20s for two years before continuing his development in the Queensland Cup.
"It's been a while since I've been back home but I'm really excited to be back in Sydney. I think my parents are keen to have me back home as well."
Britt is not the only Rugby League player in his family, with his father Darren Britt holding an impressive 227 NRL games tallied up from representing Western Suburbs and Canterbury between 1989 and 2001. After finishing up his NRL career, Britt moved to England where he played a further 50 games for St Helens. Now following in his fathers footsteps, Dean Britt is excited that his family now have the opportunity to watch him play.
"I think he is pretty excited that I am back home in Sydney and he can come and watch me play footy now."
Starting at a new Club, Britt will recognise some familiar faces having played alongside Hymel Hunt, Aaron Gray and Alex Johnston in junior rep sides and been led by football staff including Assistant Coach Anthony Seibold and Head of High Performance Paul Devlin.
"Seibs was my Melbourne Coach there for one year at 20s so I know Seibs pretty well and Devs was down at Melbourne a couple of years ago. I know a couple of boys already, Hymel, Aaron Gray and Alex Johnston, I played a bit of junior rep footy with them so I know a few familiar faces."
