McInnes Credits Forwards for Double

Rabbitohs hooker, Cameron McInnes, grabbed a Round 5 try-scoring double against the Sea Eagles – the hooker crediting his fellow forwards for the effort.

With the men in Red and Green making huge advances up-field in the early stages of the game, McInnes would prove the ultimate beneficiary by taking the slightest of opportunities to crash over from dummy-half twice, helping his team to a 16-12 victory at Brookvale Oval.

“Those two tries just come off the back of how well the big forwards are running,” said McInnes.

“I thought we did a great job at starting there just running through them and that was our goal – to start well.

“In terms of the two tries, they were just off the back of that. Obviously not happy that we let them back into the game because we want to be the team that put’s the foot on the throat there.”

McInnes’ second try would also provide a touch of history as well, notching up the Club’s 35,000th point since the competition’s inception in 1908.

But it wasn’t just the Souths Junior’s try-scoring ability that proved vital. McInnes topped Souths’ tackle-count with a whopping 47 tackles, topped tackle breaks with seven, as well as line-breaks with two.

The Rabbitohs will now prepare to take on the Sydney Roosters in the deciding Ron Coote Cup clash at ANZ Stadium in Friday Night Football. Click here to purchase tickets.
