They say that ‘Belief is half the battle’, and there’s no shortage of it this week at Redfern as the Rabbitohs prepare to travel to Townsville to take on defending-Premiers, the North Queensland Cowboys, this Friday night.
Just ask Rabbitohs hooker and local product, Cameron McInnes.
“We believe in ourselves,” said McInnes speaking to the Rugby League media.
“We know that we can do whatever we want to do so the belief hasn’t waned at all. We’re working hard every day, so we know it’s going to click.
“That is a goal of ours – to have a good performance and back it up with another one – we’re definitely looking to start that this week.”
Boasting the likes of effective Origin forwards such as James Tamou and Matt Scott up-front, the Cowboys backs have made the most of the space procured by their forwards in recent weeks. But McInnes knows that his men are also ready to roll.

“I think we’re pretty equipped ourselves with all the big boys we have,” stressed McInnes, referring to the likes of Sam, George and Thomas Burgess, as well as Kyle Turner and Dave Tyrrell.
“In terms of preparing, it’s just making sure that we’re ready to go out there and really take it to them. We have the players to do that.
“We’re ready for it and we’re really excited for the challenge, definitely.”
McInnes will find out if he has been selected in this week’s Rabbitohs line-up for the trip north this evening (Tuesday) following solid outings for the Club so far in 2016 – most notably his two-try effort against the Sea Eagles in Round 5 at Brookvale Oval.
The Botany Rams product has been playing increasing minutes in recent weeks – the hooker plying his trade for the Rabbitohs for 65 minutes before the inclusion of Damien Cook off the bench in his last match – a game that saw McInnes make 39 tackles.
