Fresh from a well-deserved break, Rabbitohs star, Kyle Turner is eager to get the ball rolling and sink his teeth into the 2018 season.
Despite the toughness a new preseason brings, Turner has been happy with how the first few weeks of training have developed.
After suffering a spinal injury in 2015 Turner has put in two near full seasons and is hoping that the new start in 2018 will be his best yet.
“[I'm] feeling alright at the moment trying to get it up and going every day for preseason,” said Turner
“I’m feeling strong, trying to get that fitness going but I’m just looking forward to our next contest and taking every day as it comes.
“It's exciting times. We haven’t put any plans together yet we’re just getting that fitness under our belt and enduring the preseason like it always is. We’ve got a good team and good players.”
With new players and new coaching staff joining the roster, at just 25, Turner is one of the mainstays of the Rabbitohs’ camp having played four years of first grade for the Club.
But the dynamic back rower has been impressed with how the new set-up has glued together and remarked on how the atmosphere around camp has created a good head space for the team.
“Everyone is bonding really well together, somethings come unexpectedly but you just have to deal with it,”
“I think the boys are doing that and we’re ripping in to training and enjoying each other’s company and we’re looking forward to new times.”
Despite the toughness of preseason, Turner is looking forward to coming back after the Christmas break and getting the necessary training in before the start of the NRL season.
“We’re just getting those skill based areas up before Christmas, we don’t want to start from scratch after the break going into preseason games and the boys have taken value from that and I think we’re only going to get better from it.”
