Junior Reps claim first scalp against Wests in Round 1

The South Sydney Rabbitohs Harold Matthews (16s) and SG Ball (18s) sides have come away with convincing victories over the Western Suburbs Magpies in their first round of the UNE Harold Matthews and the UNE SG Ball competitions.

The Harold Matthews side pulled off a first-half blitz, going up 34-10 at half-time to go on to win 36-16.

The under 16s produced a seven-tries to three victory, with centre Faresa Palu scoring the first and last tries of the match, and halfback Joseph Nohra kicking four goals.

The under 18s Rabbitohs put on a similar scoreline, only this time it was the second half of the match that produced the points, coming from 6-10 down at half-time to win 32-10. 

A twenty-minute period in the second half saw the side score five unanswered tries, with the 59th minute of the match producing the highlight as fullback Logan Aldridge pull off an impressive chip and chase try, coming from his own end of the field to punt the ball downfield, regather and score for his second of the day. 

Both sides will take on Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Belmore Sports Ground next Saturday, with the Harold Matthews kicking off at 12pm, and the SG Ball playing at 1:30pm.
