I’ve Got Full Confidence In Johnston And Burns: Cook

Damien Cook and his side are focused on getting back into the winning circle and will be looking to achieve their first win in this weekend’s round two match against the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles.

While Manly forwards Martin Taupau and Addin Fonua-Blake will miss the game due to suspensions, Cook still considers Manly as tough competitors and will be looking to focus on doing his job.

“We’ve just got to go out and do what we can to get back in the winning circle,” explained Cook.

“Manly’s strengths are that they have a really good back five there, (Tom) Trbojevic and (Dylan) Walker make a lot of their metres so I wouldn’t say they are losing too much, they’ve got some good forwards there to cover their spots.

“We’ve just got to do our job which we didn’t do last week so if we can fix that we have a good chance at winning.”

While the team will take the field without teammate and Captain Greg Inglis, Cook is confident in Alex Johnston’s move to fullback and the introduction of debutant Braidon Burns who will step up into a starting position on the wing.

“It’s a massive loss obviously not just to our team but to the game.

“But we have got to move past that straight away as bad as it was but I’ve got full confidence in Alex Johnston who will go straight back there, he has played a lot of fullback, very experienced and it’s a great opportunity for Braidon Burns to come in after his form in the Charity Shield.”
