It’s A Different Style Of Training For Us: Cook

As the South Sydney Rabbitohs enter their fifth week of pre-season training, hooker Damien Cook has been impressed by the early signs that have been displayed leading into the 2017 season.

With a number of new acquisitions amongst the coaching staff, Cook believes that his teammates have been receptive to the new style of training that has been introduced.

“It’s all going very well. We’ve had a good change up this year – a lot of new coaching staff, nutritionists and trainers around the Club,

“It’s a different style of training for us, but everyone’s ripping in and we’re enjoying it.”

In addition to the inclusion of new coaching staff for 2017, a number of new faces will also feature on field for the red and green in the forthcoming season.

According to Cook, the new recruits have transitioned seamlessly into the playing group and added to the intensity and competition of the pre-season period.

“They’ve all settled in, we’re five weeks in so everyone’s got to know each other and everyone is ripping in to training,” said Cook.

“They’ve brought their own talents in and created a bit more competition for spots which has been good.”

Not only has Cook been impressed by the commitment of his teammates, but also by the Rabbitohs faithful that showed their support over the weekend at Westfield Eastgardens.

“It’s very good to see all of the members turn up. It’s still a fair bit away before the season starts.

“I think we’re already at 20,000 members which is outstanding.”
