It Feels Like Home: Cherrington

Anthony Cherrington fronted the media following his Rabbitohs debut and the Clubs round five clash against the Cowboys.

Returning to the NRL field after competing in his last match in 2009, Cherrington explains how the game has changed in the eight year time period.

“It’s changed heaps,” explained Cherrington.

“Obviously back then guys were a lot bigger and taller but a lot slower and these days the pace is a bit faster, you’ve got to be quick to keep up with the play and if you saw me around 20 minutes you could see how tired I was so that’s a testament to how good the competition is in 2017.”

Despite the changes, Cherrington is looking forward to the season ahead and playing in more first grade games.

“The pace is a lot faster than I’m used to, it will take me probably a couple of weeks to get used to but I’m just looking forward to playing more first grade.”

Since joining the Rabbitohs, Cherrington has described the Club as one of the best compared to his previous NRL club stints and says that it feels like home.

“I’m very honoured to be at South Sydney at the moment.

“Most of the guys in my team are locals just like me and it always makes it easier for a new face to come into the team when it feels like home.

“I’ve got to be honest, it’s probably the best Club that I’ve been to. I’ve been to Roosters, Broncos and Panthers as well so it’s been the most welcoming out of all the clubs I’ve been to.”
