I Feel More Like a Rabbitoh Now

Rabbitohs hooker, Damien Cook, has been blown away by the level of support he has received from Club Members and supporters since donning the Red and Green for the first time in this year’s trials.

Having gotten a first-hand taste of what life as a Rabbitohs player is like in trial matches and the Auckland Nines, Cook told that he feels right at home at Redfern.

“I feel more like a Rabbitoh now,” said Cook.

“The fans have been very good – very supportive. They say hello and they welcome you to the Club, which is very nice of them.

“Even at the Gold Coast as well, there were fans that turned out to our training run there and they were all very welcoming – so thank you!”

Cook made his presence felt during the Club’s pre-season campaign playing primarily out of dummy-half, where the former Bulldog kept opposition defences constantly guessing, and markers clutching at thin air.

The new recruit puts it all down to the work put in at training, as well as his close relationship with fellow Club rake, Cameron McInnes.

“Cam and myself have been the hookers in the last two trials,” said Cook.

“We’re capable at hooker and, yeah, we have been very helpful of each other at training – we push each other where it’s needed, whether it’s in the gym or in conditioning.

“After training, we like to do our extras together as well, so we’re always tipping each other up and trying to get the best out of each other.”
