Hunt Up for the Challenge

Rabbitohs centre, Hymel Hunt, says that his team will be up to the challenge when they take on the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles at Brookvale Oval on Thursday night.

Playing the Sea Eagles for the 137th time in history, the Rabbitohs will be eager to bounce back when they take on the high-flying north-siders in Round 5 of the Telstra Premiership.

“We’ll train this week and definitely turn up on Thursday,” said Hunt.

“It’s time for the young boys to step up.”

Although the Sea Eagles are likely to be missing a number of key players through injury – with Daly Cherry-Evans and Jamie Buhrer suffering injuries against the Roosters and Steve Matai pulling out of that clash just before kick-off – Hunt and his teammates will be treating the Manly side as though they are at full strength.

“I don’t think it’s smart to underestimate a team,” said Hunt.

“They’ll come in and put 100% in on the paddock, so we’ll play it like they’re full-strength.”

Having joined the South Sydney Rabbitohs for the 2016 season, Hunt has laid claim to the position of right centre, cementing his spot in the top 17 with a number of solid performances.

Despite this, Hunt knows that he has a role to play and must continue to impress amid stiff competition for spots in the Rabbitohs back-line.

Hunt had another solid performance on Friday against the Bulldogs, running for 123 metres with the ball in hand and completing 26 tackles during his 80 minutes on the pitch.
