In a masterstroke of social media film-making, Angus Crichton has released an untitled short film on Instagram that has been lauded by audiences and critics alike.
Invoking the French 1960's cinéma vérité movement, Crichton's film is seemingly an Act I in a 'Rags to Riches' or 'Quest' plot line. With a cast of debuting stars including Crichton and supporting actor Sione Roman - the film is a breath of fresh air on the Instagram platform.
Blurring the line between documentary and drama, the film consistently and successfully breaks the fourth wall with laughter from the camera operator. Crichton relies on tracking shots as a motif for the journey his characters undergo and provides rather enjoyable viewing experience.
However, of note to cinephile's out there - Crichton can be accused of deus ex machina as he resolves the revelation of catching Adidas football boots through eating them (thankfully only inferred).
Angus Crichton is currently studying a Bachelor of Communication (Media Arts and Production) at the University of Technology Sydney.
At the time of publishing, Crichton's opus has been viewed over 10,700 times on his Instagram account. We here at Rabbitohs.com.au are eagerly awaiting the sequel.
Courtesy of the director himself we have been given permission to showcase his opus below.
