After an impressive start to his NRL career, Rabbitohs forward Angus Crichton is looking forward to the challenge of cementing his spot in Michael Maguire’s top 17 for the remainder of the 2016 season.
Despite coming up short against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles in Round 20, Crichton continues to hold a positive outlook regarding the performance of his side as well as his own season.
“Those losses are never easy. You play footy and sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, that’s just the game we play I guess. We’ve just got to play on to next Sunday against the Raiders,” said the back-rower.
“I only played my second game this week, so this is my time to really just focus on trying to stay in the team,
“I’m not really looking at the season as a whole, my seasons just started so I’m trying to play my best footy and see what I can get out of this season.”
Having been sidelined for the majority of the season with a hand injury, the Rabbitohs youngster is looking forward to his side building on their second half display against the Sea Eagles, as he looks for his maiden victory in the top grade.
“I think we came back a bit in the second half. We’ve got plenty to work on this week and we’ll make sure we address what we need to before this Sunday,” said Crichton.
“The game was always there for us to take, it just didn’t turn out that way for us and there are probably a few things we need to look at that we can take into next week.
“I just want to get my first win – I want to win some games with the boys in this team because that’s what footy’s about, playing with your mates, winning games and that’s everyone’s goal at the Club.”
Crichton will be looking to play his third consecutive game when the Rabbitohs take on the Canberra Raiders in Round 21 at ANZ Stadium on Sunday, backing up his solid outings against the Broncos and Sea Eagles.
