Cooper Johns returns home to Sea Eagles

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles have secured the services of Cooper Johns for 2023.

It’s a return ‘home’ for Johns, who played his junior football with the Narraweena Hawks in the Manly District Junior Rugby League before graduating through the Sea Eagles’ Harold Matthews and SG Ball Cup teams.

A five-eighth/half, Johns has played 11 first grade games since making his NRL debut for the Melbourne Storm in 2020.

“Cooper is on a train and replacement contract at this stage due to the NRL salary cap figure not being confirmed for 2023,’’ said Manly CEO Tony Mestrov.

“Our intention is to put Cooper into the top 30 once possible. He is on a one-year deal.

“Cooper is a Manly junior who previously captained our SG Ball team. He is a very talented young player who will certainly add some depth to our halves.

“We welcome Cooper back to Brookvale.”
