Cook to Play to Strengths

Rabbitohs hooker, Damien Cook, will be looking to play his role for the Club this season by playing to his strengths ahead of this Sunday’s Round 1 clash against the Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium.

With Head Coach, Michael Maguire, set to announce his team for the traditional clash this afternoon (Tuesday), Cook has sounded out the need for him to play his natural game should he be selected.

“I’ve just got to play my game and play to my strengths as well,” said Cook.

“I’ve had a couple of trials now with the team and I’ve settled in. Obviously the combination stuff will come through the season as well.

“I’m just looking forward to getting off to a good start.”

The Roosters come into Sunday’s clash following a trip to the UK to play in the expanded World Club Series – the Broncos and Cowboys also making the trip. The Tricolours came away with a 32-12 victory over St Helens at Langtree Park, while the Broncos and Cowboys also picked up wins to sweep the series.

Cook fully expects the sides to produce similar form to their foray in the UK.

“It is a long way to go and it was a quick trip for them,” said Cook.

“Obviously I haven’t had to experience that, but we’ll soon find out how the Broncos and that (the Roosters and Cowboys) come up in Round 1.

“They all played well over there in the Super League.”
