With the Rabbitohs returning home to ANZ Stadium in round 19 to take on the Brisbane Broncos, Rabbitohs.com.au have taken a look at the burning questions to be answered this week.
1) Will the bye week work in the Rabbitohs favour?
The bye in Round 18 came at a good time for the Rabbitohs as they ready themselves for the final eight rounds of the regular season. A chance to put in some work into the squad, followed by an extended break to rest the body and mind, was put into place by the Rabbitohs coaching staff. How the Rabbitohs rebound from the loss in Cairns, followed by the bye, will be what all Rabbitohs Members are keen to see this week.
2) Will George Burgess return to first grade this Saturday night?
George Burgess made his long-awaited comeback from a groin and abdominal injury last weekend with the North Sydney Bears in the ISP NSW. Burgess played approximately 20 minutes from the interchange bench and played in integral part in one of the Bears’ tries. Will that taste of footy action be enough for George to earn back a first grade jersey? We shall wait and see.
3) Will Adam Reynolds play against the Broncos?
Rabbitohs halfback Adam Reynolds was ruled out of the NSW State of Origin side last week with a neck and shoulder injury which had been an issue since Origin II. Despite not being deemed fit to play in Wednesday’s clash with Queensland by the NSW medicos, Reynolds could line up for the Rabbitohs three days later when they take on the Broncos. We will watch Coach Michael Maguire’s team selection on Tuesday with anticipation to see who he selects to represent South Sydney this Saturday night at ANZ Stadium.
4) Origin fatigue?
The Rabbitohs have just one representative in Wednesday night’s State of Origin match, our captain Greg Inglis. However, the Broncos have six players in the Queensland side. Broncos Head Coach Wayne Bennett has rested his Origin stars following rep games previously this year, so it will be very interesting to see if any of his six Origin reps are rested on Saturday, or whether all of them back up against our Rabbitohs.
