Burgess - We Can't Over-Complicate It

Rabbitohs front-rower, Thomas Burgess, believes that his team shouldn't over-complicate their game plan when they take on the Penrith Panthers in Round 16 of the Telstra Premiership at Pepper Stadium on Friday night.

Coming off the back of a loss at the hands of the Parramatta Eels in Round 15, the Rabbitohs will head to Penrith searching for two competition points against a strong Panthers outfit looking to claw their way into the top half of the ladder.

Despite lacking consistency in recent weeks, Burgess is adamant that his side has the capability to redirect their season through working on the little things in their game and uniting as a team.

“We’ve just got to stick together as a team and keep working hard on the things that will help our performance,” said Burgess.

“We need to get all of the little things right this week and the results will take care of themselves.

“It’s not the most complex game in the world, if you hold onto the ball and don’t give away penalties, you give yourself a good chance of winning.”

Although the Origin period and injuries have impacted the squad, there remains to be high morale amongst the playing group according to Burgess.

“When you have a few losses, obviously you’ve got to keep spirits up and that’s what we’ve been doing.”
