Former Rabbitohs prop Roy Asotasi has backed his Rabbitohs to come out on top against the North Queensland Cowboys and is looking forward to a tough clash at Barlow Park.
Roy, speaking from Cairns ahead of Sunday’s game, feels the Rabbitohs are competing with the effort necessary to bring results but are being let down by their execution.
“It’s always good to come up to Cairns, I’m sure the boys will be looking forward to the trip,” said Asotasi.
“It’s a much needed two points. ‘Madge’ will have the boys focused as he always does and you can tell the effort is there but I think execution is what the boys will be looking for come Sunday.”
Speaking from his experience representing New Zealand, Roy believes the Cowboys will be bolstered by the return of a confident Michael Morgan and will look to capitalise on this. However, he believes memories of last year’s fixture will motivate the Rabbitohs to rip in at Barlow Park.
“He’ll definitely be running on a high, I’m not too sure he’ll be keen to play five days later. I know one thing when you’re backing up from any kind of International or Rep football you come with a bit of confidence and that’s one thing the Cowboys will be looking to thrive on.

“Our boys didn’t do too well last year and they’ll be looking forward to making sure they do well against a Queensland side so let’s hope they do well.”
Whilst at state level Roy’s allegiance lies with Queensland, when it comes to Club football the big man is backing the boys from South Sydney to claim the win in Sunday’s encounter.
“I predicted last night the Maroons would win 20-12, I was two points off and one try less for the Blues so… I’ll go 20-12 again - definitely Rabbitohs to win!”
