Allan scores as the PM's XIII beat PNG

Incoming South Sydney Rabbitohs recruit Corey Allan has shown what he can do with ball in hand, playing his part in the Australian Prime Minister's XIII's 34-18 win over the Papua New Guinea Prime Minister's XIII in Port Moresby.

Looking right at home in the Australian number one jersey, Allan scored the first try of the second half to help guide Australia to victory.

In an entertaining clash, which was interrupted by a mid-match pitch invasion, Allan showed that he has all the makings of a future star with a complete performance at the back.

In front of a 14,000 strong crowd, it was the Australian's who took the ascendancy in the first half, with tries to Canberra Raiders winger Nick Cotric and Manly Warringah Sea Eagles duo Daly Cherry Evans and Jake Trbojevic putting the Australian Prime Minister's XIII 24-0 in front.

The Papua New Guineans finally came to the party when Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs forward Rhyse Martin crossed to reduce the deficit to the 24-6 at half-time.

Committing to his role and not overplaying his hand, Allan finally received his opportunity to shine with some opportunistic fullback play.

Teaming up with North Queensland Cowboys player Enari Tuala who pounced on a PNG error, Allan received the ball from the centre before racing away to score untouched, demonstrating some of his blistering pace.

The game didn't stop there though, as the determined Papua New Guineans came back to make a game of it.

Tries to Kyle Laybutt and Justin Olam saw the score reduced to 30-18 to set up a late game showdown, however, a try to Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks half Chad Townsend sealed the game for the Green and Gold.
