The Rabbitohs’ official website, www.rabbitohs.com.au, will be taking a look back at the past decade to see the growth of the Club over the past ten years.
The dream comes true! The Rabbitohs win the 2014 NRL Grand Final to end a 43-year premiership drought by beating the Bulldogs 30-6 on Sunday 5 October. In front of 83,833 people, the Rabbitohs lifted above their rivals through a heroic team performance lead by Captain John Sutton.
The win sealed Souths 21st Premiership. It was the modern Rabbitohs biggest year… yet! In 2017 all eyes are set on 22.
Finishing 3rd on the table; the Rabbitohs were statistically dominant during the season. The 2014 squad were first overall in dummy-half meters (135.2m per game), tackle breaks (29.1 per game), try assists (3.6 per game) and with the greatest defence (conceding only 15 points per game).
Adam Reynolds again found himself in the top 5 point scorers for the NRL while debutant Alex Johnston topped the Rabbitohs and matched Vatuvei, Waqa and Hiku in 4th place for tries scored (17) in the regular season before finishing top with 21 after the finals.
Veteran signing Lote Tuqiri took time to find his feet but showed his class in the back end of the season, scoring a spectacular try against the Sea Eagles in the qualifying final win at Allianz Stadium.
Clive Churchill medallist Sam Burgess announced in February that he would finish with the Rabbitohs at the end of the year to pursue Rugby Union at Bath Rugby.
Membership swelled again with over 30,000 people signing up to fly the Red & Green with us as we marched towards finals glory. Average home crowds were 22,404 – second only to Brisbane Broncos.

January: Rabbitohs sign Lote Tuqiri for 2014 season.
February: Rabbitohs extend contract of Coach Maguire. Sam Burgess announces he will leave the Rabbitohs at the end of the season for Bath Rugby.
April: Rabbitohs sign Tim Grant and Glenn Stewart for 2015.
May: Rabbitohs surpass 30,000 Members for 2014. Rabbitohs extend Jason Clark’s contract.
June: Rabbitohs sign Cody Walker for seasons 2015 & 2016.
August: Rabbitohs extend contract of Chris McQueen. Rabbitohs unveil Close The Gap jersey.
September: Rabbitohs to take part in expanded World Club Series in 2015. Nathan Merritt announced his retirement at the end of season. Nathan Merritt announced his retirement from Rugby League. He finished his career as the highest South Sydney try scorer and second highest games played for the Club.
October: Rabbitohs win the 2014 NRL Grand Final! Prime Minister announces $10 million in funding for Rabbitohs High Performance Community Centre. Rabbitohs sign Angus Crichton.
November: Fujitsu becomes Rabbitohs co-major away corporate partner.
