After a handful of games in his debut season, Angus Crichton went up to a new level in 2017, playing nearly every game of the year and proving himself to be a real handful for opposition defences.
The 21-year-old backrower cemented his spot in the Rabbitohs’ forward pack, forming a strong combination with halfback Adam Reynolds on the right hand side of the field, which is where he did the most damage as a wide runner of the ball, resulting in his 10 linebreaks and 7 tries.
No doubt his best performance came in Round 15 against the Titans, where he ran over 200 metres, made 27 tackles, broke 12 tackles, made 4 linebreaks and crossed over for his first career hat-trick. It was one of the best individual performances of the year, and no doubt the one that put Crichton on the radar.
With a new era upon South Sydney, Crichton could very well prove to be one of the catalysts in 2018, and the potential of the young forward is something all Souths fans are keen to see develop in the coming years.
