Winmarra Emerging Leaders Training Singlet

Designed by Uncle Maurice Goolagong in collaboration with participants of the Winmarra Emerging Leaders Program in Brewarrina, this artwork tells the story of Connect to Country.

The design follows a journey from the ancient Brewarrina Fish Traps to the coastline of Maroubra, symbolising the connection between Country, culture and opportunity. Two sets of tracks travel side by side, the human footprints represent the mentors, while the Kangaroo footprints represent the young people. Together they reflect the belief that, regardless of the path each person takes, they walk it together with guidance, support and shared purpose.

Surrounding the journey are the mountains of the Great Dividing Range, connecting inland Country to the sea. At the beginning of the path, the iconic Brewarrina black fish watches over the young people's journey, offering protection, strength and a lasting connection to their cultural roots.
