Souths Cares is celebrating Barranggirra participant, Madison McMahon for her resilience and commitment over the past 12 months which has resulted in her completing the IPROWD course and commencing as an Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer with NSW Police.
Madison commenced the IPROWD (Indigenous Police Recruitment Our Way Delivery) course at Eora TAFE in July last year, leaving an established career in the construction industry to pursue her dream of working in the Justice sector and making a difference within her community.
Madison completed the IPROWD course in November last year with distinction, graduating with a Certificate 3 in Vocational and Educational Studies pathway for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander People. The IPROWD course fast-tracked her employment with NSW Police, where she commenced as an Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer in Western Sydney in February.
Madison is a proud Wiradjuri and Dunghutti woman who understands the need for more Indigenous Police Officers and is passionate about advocating for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people who are over-represented within the Justice system. She is strongly committed to providing a culturally safe space within the community, breaking down barriers and changing stereotypes to ensure positive outcomes are achieved.
