Tickets on Sale Now for RD 21 Rabbitohs vs Warriors at Sunshine Coast Stadium

Tickets have gone on sale today for the 2022 NRL Premiership match to be played between the South Sydney Rabbitohs and the New Zealand Warriors on Saturday 6 August at 3pm at Sunshine Coast Stadium, proudly supported by Sunshine Coast Council and Tourism and events Queensland.

The Rabbitohs and Warriors have developed strong supporter bases on the Sunshine Coast over the past four years, in what promises to be another fantastic afternoon of elite level Rugby League action.

Rabbitohs CEO, Blake Solly, said the Rabbitohs are looking forward to returning to the Sunshine Coast again in 2022.

“Everyone within our organisation is excited to be returning to Sunshine Coast Stadium in August this year as we take on another team that has developed a strong following in the region in the shape of the New Zealand Warriors,” Mr Solly said.

“We spent a lot of time in Queensland last year due the NRL’s competition being moved to the State because of the pandemic and it certainly agreed with us as we won our way through to the NRL Grand Final. We were fortunate to play two games at the venue last season, a 60-22 win over the Warriors and a 20-16 win over the Dragons, so hopefully we can turn in a similar performance against the Warriors again this season.

“The sporting public of the Sunshine Coast will get to see some of the best players our game has to offer in this match played just after the State of Origin period and I know our Members and supporters based in the southern states are looking forward to a winter break in the Sunshine State as well.

“(Mayor) Mark Jamieson and the team at Sunshine Coast Council work closely with us as well as the crew at TEQ to deliver a fantastic event for the people of the Sunshine Coast and we can’t wait to return in August.”

Sunshine Coast Council Economy Portfolio Councillor, Jason O’Pray, said Council was very proud of its partnership with the South Sydney Rabbitohs and to have them call Sunshine Coast home for the Round 21 match.

“With event and border restrictions easing all round, we’re so excited to welcome the Rabbitohs back to the Sunshine Coast, with a strong contingent of Rabbitohs supporters in tow for the weekend or a longer well-earned break,” Cr O’Pray said.

“The Sunshine Coast is a terrific place to visit all year round and I’m sure Rabbitohs fans from interstate will be keen to sample some of our magnificent winter weather and our craft beer, while visiting Australia’s craft beer capital, and all that our region has to offer.

“Rugby League has an extremely strong supporter base in our region and I know how excited local footy fans will be to see the NRL at the Sunshine Coast Stadium.”
