Souths Cares Support Families Returning to School

With many families struggling at the moment with the cost of living, purchasing return to school items and groceries proved to be a challenge for many families involved in Souths Cares programs.

To address this need, Souths Cares teamed up with Kane Constructions and Woolworths Redfern to provide over 40 ‘Return to School’ grocery hampers which included fresh fruit and vegetables, school snacks and other grocery items to ensure students had a great start to Term 1, 2021.

The grocery hampers were distributed throughout multiple Souths Cares programs including the Deadly Youth Mentoring Program, Nanga Mai Marri (Dream Big) Mentoring Program and the Liverpool Opportunity Hub.

The initiative was made possible with the generous donation from Kane Constructions.

Alisha Parker-Elrez, Souths Cares General Manager said the donation has had a big impact for multiple families.

“Big shout out to Kane Constructions for their kind donation to Souths Cares which has supported more than 40 families with their return to school," Parker-Elrez said.

"Without their support we wouldn’t have been able to deliver this important community initiative”.

Brett Moore, General Manager of Kane Constructions said their donation came from a desire to support their local South Sydney community.

"As passionate local members of the South Sydney Community, our Kane Constructions Team are so happy that we've been able to support the South Cares team and local families in some small way as everyone prepares themselves for the start of a positive 2021 year ahead," Moore said.

Souths Cares and Kane Constructions will look to build upon the success of the return to school initiative, with more exciting collaborations in the works for 2021.
