Souths Cares NCAP Program Celebrates Success

A positive attitude and the right timing proved to be a winning combination for Tray Hoskins in securing employment through Souths Cares New Careers for Aboriginal People (NCAP) Program.

Tray has always had a strong work ethic, and after leaving school he had worked for the past four years in warehousing and fencing roles. Like many members of our community, Tray was impacted by COVID-19 and was stood down from his employment in April.

After losing his employment, Tray found himself lacking the motivation and support to re-enter the workforce. Tray was referred to the NCAP Program in early November and worked closely with Souths Cares Employment and Training Advisor, Leona Oliver to identify his aspirations and explore employment opportunities.

Within a few days, Tray had secured an employment trial with the company Nanyabura Cleaning Services who hold a number of commercial cleaning contracts throughout South Western Sydney including Liverpool and Campbelltown Justice Precincts.

After a successful employment trial, Tray was immediately offered part time employment and within just three weeks had become a fulltime employee.

Tracy Twyford, Regional Manager from Nanyabura Cleaning Services said Tray made a great first impression and she was thrilled to have him as part of their team.

“Tray is a respectful, well-mannered man that people really like," Twyford said.

"The Court Sheriffs all rave about how great he is and we are happy to have him in our Nanyabura family.”

Leona Oliver, Employment and Training Advisor said commencing employment had a profoundly positive impact for Tray.

“Tray has come a long way since he was first referred to the program," Oliver said.

"He now wakes up at 6am every morning, is highly motivated and is much happier as he now has a purpose.

"He has become financially stable after a period of unemployment, which is perfect timing in the lead up to Christmas."

Tray thanked the people who supported him throughout his journey this year.

“I would like to thank my mother for standing by me and supporting me this year, Leona for the support she provided me in finding work and Tracy for this great opportunity.”
