Rabbitohs Congratulate Wayne Bennett on Queensland State of Origin Head Coaching Appointment

The South Sydney Rabbitohs congratulate Head Coach Wayne Bennett on his appointment as Head Coach of Queensland for the 2020 State of Origin series.

Bennett first coached Queensland in 1986 and has coached Queensland in seven State of Origin series between 1986 and 2003, as well as the Super League Tri-series in 1997. Bennett has been at the helm of five winning State of Origin series with Queensland.

Rabbitohs CEO, Blake Solly, is delighted for Bennett to be returning to representative football.

“We’re very happy for Wayne to be returning to the Queensland team after 17 years,” Mr Solly said.

“He is very passionate about representative football and in particular State of Origin with Queensland.

“He was the Head Coach of both England and Great Britain last year while he was coaching our team and we see no reason he can’t be successful in coaching Queensland in the end-of-season series this year.

“We wish him the best of luck and look forward to the rest of this unusual and amazing season with him at the helm of our Rabbitohs as we head into the Finals Series this Sunday against Newcastle.”
