Burgess in shape to tackle 2018 head on

It's full steam ahead according to George Burgess - the South Sydney Rabbitohs forward believes he is approaching tip top shape ahead of the 2018 season.

With a big point to prove in 2018, Burgess is looking forward to getting through the remainder of the pre-season and charging into the new competition front on.

Rabbitohs Members and supports alike will be desperate to see Burgess back to his brilliant best and, judging by the 2018 pre-season, their hopes should be high - but the man himself knows there is still work to be done.

“I feel great,” said the front-rower. “Obviously you’re always battling little injuries you’ve got and little [pains] around the body.

“The body feels good and I’m just excited to get cracking with the year and playing some good footy.”

“You do your best in the pre-season to work hard and get a good amount of training into you and make sure everyone’s fit. It’s just about working through it as the season goes and hitting the ground running from Round 1.”

With five weeks of training ahead of Round 1, Burgess has been extremely impressed with the form of our returning Rugby League World Cup stars at training and says that those senior players have lead by example.

“It was great to get those boys back, great to have them amongst the team,” said Burgess.

“They’re great leaders amongst our team so it’s been good to have all the international players back.

“We’ve always got healthy competition when it comes to the forwards, it always rises the training standards and makes everyone better.”
