Mini Special Olympics At Redfern Oval

There were plenty of smiles at Redfern Oval on Monday morning as the Rabbitohs hosted a Mini Special Olympics ahead of Thursday's Special Olympics Cup clash with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.

With athletes from across Sydney converging on Redfern Oval to compete in three events, Rabbitohs staff and players were on hand to officiate and keep score.

"It's something that we look forward to each year as a playing group, although I'm in the coaching ranks now," said U20s assistant coach and former Rabbitoh Ben Lowe.

"It's great to be involved. The kids come out here, they have a great time and the weather has put it on for us again today. It's just a great opportunity to get out and about."

Thursday will mark the sixth annual Special Olympics Cup game between the Rabbitohs and the Bulldogs, signifying an important partnership between the Rabbitohs, Bulldogs and Special Olympics Australia in providing a platform for thousands of Australians with an intellectual disability to reach their personal best both on and off the sporting field.

Special Olympics will be doing fundraising activities around the ground on the night. To learn more about Special Olympics Australia, visit www.specialolympics.com.au.
