Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire says his troops are refreshed after the bye weekend and will be ready to go against the Penrith Panthers this Sunday afternoon.
Coach Maguire also said the team will celebrate two special milestones this week when Dave Tyrrell plays his 150th NRL game and George Burgess lines up for his 100th NRL game.
“They’ve come back in really good spirits so the boys jumped into training yesterday and there’s a lot of energy around the place and we’re looking forward obviously to the footy ahead,” Coach Maguire said.
“We’ve got a Sunday afternoon game and we really enjoy the Sundays as you see a lot of the families come out, so we’re looking for all of our Members and their little ones to come out and cheer and get behind the boys.
“It’s obviously another big game for us.”
Maguire paid tribute to Tyrrell and Burgess who will be playing in their milestone matches this weekend.
“It’s good to have ‘Tiz’ back,” Maguire said.
“He’s a real pro, Tiz, and all credit to him, he’s spent a bit of time back in reserve grade and he’s been a really strong leader back there.
“He’s through a lot of these young guys that we’re starting to see sprinkle into first grade.
“Credit to him, but he’s now coming into the team and we’re looking forward to a good performance from Tiz.
“Obviously for George to play his 100th, they’re milestones we hold very close to us because for a person to play one game let alone 100 or 150, is very special.”
