Slammin' Sam Burgess claimed two major awards at the Red & Green Ball on Friday as he was honoured with the Jack Rayner Players' Player Award and his second George Piggins Medal.
On reflection of the night Sam was moved by hearing his fellow players speak from the heart as they accepted their awards and he feels this is a good sign for the direction of our Club.
"Certainly it's been a good night. We've seen some of the players get up and speak and really speak from the heart," said Burgess.
"It's a good night for the Club and a good for us moving forward."
Sam agrees there is a hunger in the playing squad after a strong finish to the 2016 season and points to the attitude in off season as an example of this.
"Since the season finished the boys have been training extremely hard which we've not seen for a few years. That'll drive us into next year," said Burgess.
"But let's not put too much pressure on ourselves. We're going to relax, enjoy a couple more weeks off and get back in at the start of November and put our foot down get moving in the right direction again."
