Grateful for the Opportunity: Burgess

Rabbitohs winger Joe Burgess says he is grateful for the opportunity to pull on the famous cardinal and myrtle jersey of South Sydney and is looking to make the most of his time with the Club.

Speaking to the Rugby League media today (Monday), Burgess said it was an odd week when he joined the Club, however it’s been nothing but a positive.

“It was a funny week,” Burgess said about the time he joined the Rabbitohs.

“It was announced that I was going back home, and then a week later this opportunity comes.

“It was a strange week, but I was straight into it and I’m just grateful for the opportunity.”

Burgess says he will return to Wigan in 2017, but he is looking forward to making the most of his time in the NRL with the Rabbitohs.

“I was pretty gutted. I didn’t really want to go home. I just wasn’t getting enough game time at the Roosters,” Burgess explained.

“Then this opportunity comes, so I’m going to be making the most of it this year.”

Burgess goes on to explain the differences he finds between the Rabbitohs and the Roosters, the difference between playing in the NRL and the Super League, and his positive mindset as the back-end of the season approaches.
