A Members Perspective – Rd 11, 2016
A bit of oil and a lot of passion and wham –we managed to take the goods in Round 10 against the Eels.
Was it Inglis at five-eighth? Was it Keary coming off the bench? Was it the injection of Johnston? Maybe it was our forwards? No. It was all the above – a team effort from a group of guys that have a lot of belief.
There were so many positives to come out of this game – like that offload from Inglis, Sam's try-saving tackles, Keary slipping and sliding through defence, that perfect kick from Reynolds!
But Paul Carter was a bit of a stand out for me. Still young and with plenty of room to improve, Carter was like a little ‘energizer bunny’ – he was wound up and just did not stop playing in top gear and left nothing in the tank. I look forward to seeing more of him!
It was exactly the performance we needed to see, and better yet, I think we still have a lot to give!
So now we turn to St George Illawarra tonight. This is a special game for us, celebrating our very own Indigenous Round.
You could see throughout the week that this means a whole lot to both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Rabbitohs alike. I am super excited to hear Glory Glory on the didgeridoo, that I’m sure will be a spine-tingling experience for everyone present!
We have a renewed outlook; we are coming off a pleasing week, and would love nothing more than to put in another strong showing. I am actually really excited about this one!
So once again, I want to see those Rabbitohs Members and supporters loud and proud in the crowd!
I can’t wait to see this game – the game that I have grown to know as a raging rivalry between two traditional Clubs. It keeps me on the edge of my seat and has the ability to bring tears of happiness and an array of emotions. I know that you feel it too!
Let’s do this tonight! Up the Mighty Rabbitohs!
The Rabbitohs will wear a special jersey tonight against St George Illawarra, designed by Sydney-based Indigenous designer, Nikita Ridgeway, telling the stories of the Club’s Indigenous players.
