Rabbitohs Head Coach, Michael Maguire, has given his insights into Round 8 as he and his team prepare to take on the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium this Friday night.
Maguire earlier today (Tuesday) named the same line-up that took the field in Round 7, but hinted that the team named may not be the team that crosses the stripe.
“I’m looking at performance,” said Maguire.
“We’ll have a look at the team as we move through the week, but there’s a lot of areas of our game that we need to continually work hard at.
“The boys understand where we’re at and we need to make sure we’re doing all the little one per cent things that make great Rugby League teams.
“The boys are very capable – it’s just about applying themselves for every moment of the game.”
The Rabbitohs have won their last three encounters at Suncorp Stadium against the Broncos since 2013, including last year’s Round 1 victory as well 2014s effort that saw Greg Inglis streak some 80 metres to score one of the tries of that season.
For Maguire and his men, the return to Brisbane to play in front of a strong contingent of Queensland Rabbitohs Members and supporters is a special part of the season.
“It’s always a great ground to go and play (at),” said Maguire.
“Obviously they’ll have the ANZAC spirit in the background. Obviously we’re going up there to spend a bit of time together and make sure we’re focused around the areas that we want to improve on.
“I’m seeing that throughout the organisation. We’ve just got to work really hard to continually achieve those sorts of things and we are doing that as a group.”
