SCG a Special Place for McInnes

The Sydney Cricket Ground holds many memories for many people, and Rabbitohs hooker Cameron McInnes is definitely one of them.

As the Rabbitohs prepare to return to the scene of so many of their past glories this Sunday – glories that include everything from magic moments to matches of the round and Premiership triumphs – for McInnes, memories of his debut game in Round 5 of the 2014 season immediately spring to mind.

“I think it was the same game two years ago that I made my debut,” said McInnes of his debut game against St George Illawarra.

“That was Sutto’s (John Sutton’s) record-breaking game and it was a big occasion for me. Every time I come here I sort of think about that night and how good it was.

“I’m definitely looking forward to getting back out here because it’s special to me and it will be for the rest of my life now.”

McInnes’ men in Red and Green will this Sunday face a Dragons outfit intent on getting their first win of the season after going down in their opening two encounters.

For his part, McInnes is expecting a formidable Dragons outfit full of intent.

“Every time you play NRL, it’s always going to be a challenge,” said McInnes.

“We’re expecting them to come out and really put it to us as the previous two teams have done. So it’s just up to us to work hard and do those little things.

“If we do those things, we’ll come out on top and that’s what every team’s trying to do. We don’t look at their 0-2 record because we know what they’re capable of and we know that they’ll really want to come out and put on a good show.”

The Rabbitohs will take on the St George Illawarra Dragons at the SCG this Sunday. Kick-off is at 4pm. Click here to purchase your tickets!
