The North Sydney Bears and Souths Cares hosted a League Tag Gala Day yesterday at Hayes Park Galston for more than 300 primary school students.
League Tag is a modified and inclusive version of Rugby League which enables students of all abilities to participate and get active.
Yesterday’s Gala Day was part of the larger North Sydney Bears League Tag competition which will engage over 2000 primary school students throughout October and November.
Souths Cares Ambassador Beau Champion attended the Gala Day to deliver the Souths Cares and Colgate Oral Health Program.
Champion discussed with students the importance of oral health care and nutrition as part of a healthy and active lifestyle. Each student who attended the day also received a Colgate toothbrush and toothpaste.
Nicole Pearce teacher at Pacific Hills Christian School explained the initiatives such as the Gala Day were important for promoting physical activity.
"Today’s Gala Day has provided our students a great opportunity to develop their skills and team play in a fun and friendly environment," said Pearce.
"Days of this nature are so important to increase sports participation across different ages."
