Stats Breakdown - Titans

It wasn't pretty and it certainly wasn't clean but in the end, it was just enough from the South Sydney Rabbitohs to get the two points against the Gold Coast Titans in Round 14.

In this week's Stats Breakdown, we take a look at some of the key stats that helped the Rabbitohs get over the line and some not so key stats that the Red and Green will want to clean up before the next game.

Numerical advantage

While the Rabbitohs attack was unusually clunky on Friday night they were able to take advantage of the 20 minutes they had with an extra man on the field.

With Titans' Keegan Hipgrave finding himself on the sidelines twice in one match the Rabbitohs took their opportunity when presented to them.

In the first half it was Cody Walker whose raw pace exploited a tired Gold Coast defence and in the second half, it was a quick backline move that caught the Titans out allowing Alex Johnston to stroll over on his return.

No Origin no worries

While it was a bold decision by Head Coach Anthony Seibold to rest his representative stars he was rewarded by those who once again stepped up in their absence.

In the centres, Adam Doueihi filled expertly for captain Greg Inglis scoring the Rabbitohs opening try.

While Robbie Farah tackle himself to death for a second week running.

Forgettable completion rate

64%... Yep, that was Souths completion rate percentage by the end of the 80-minutes in Round 14.

28 out 44 sets were complete for the Red and Green and it made for frustrating viewing for those thinking an easy win was in the bag against the struggling Gold Coast Titans.

The positive sign for Souths is that this is a quick fix and one they will sure be working on going into the next game.

Two points

While it wasn't one of South Sydney's best in 2018 the most important stat at the end of the day was the two points.

To win unconvincingly shows signs of mongrel and again displays the ability of the team to win in a difficult situation.
