Souths Members Are A Passionate Group: Burgess

George Burgess explains that the team is looking forward to playing their final game amongst Members at ANZ Stadium on Friday night as they farewell players who will finish up their last game as a Rabbitoh.

“We are looking forward to playing against Parramatta,” said Burgess.

“We are looking forward to getting out there at ANZ in our last game and hopefully we can get our Members out there in good support sending off our players who won’t be with us next year. It’s going to be a great occasion for us.

“For our Members we want to show that we are sticking in there strong and we are building for the future. The Souths Members are a passionate group and stick with their team as we’ve seen, they went without a premiership for 43 years so there a faithful bunch and hopefully we can see them out there on Friday.”

While the Eels are currently in fourth position on the ladder, Burgess explains that the opposition’s goal to stay in the top four is not on the minds of the Rabbitohs but instead they have a focus on going out and playing for the players that will be playing their final game for the Club.

“I think our main motivation is just sending off our boys who are leaving and putting on a good performance for the Members and that’s our number one. I think Parramatta have got their own motivation so we’ve just got to play our best game.”

As many younger players have made their mark this year at the Club, Burgess’ advice as the season comes to a close is to learn from the experiences whether they are high or low.

“It’s just all experience in the NRL. It’s the highs and the lows and you’ve just got to learn from your experiences I suppose moving forward.”
