The Souths Cares Health Team joined WentWest and the Clontarf Foundation at Chifley College, Mount Druitt, to support a festival of health for young people.
More than 200 Aboriginal youth between 12-18 years of age were provided a variety of Health sessions which included oral health, eye testing, nutrition and personal fitness.
Souths Cares took the opportunity to deliver our innovative Oral Health Program which has engaged more than 9000 young people since its inception in 2013. The program incorporates our strong oral health session “Eat Well, Drink Well and Brush Well” that aims to promote good oral health hygiene among young Australians.
Our current focus is on encouraging the students to develop healthy oral care habits and to remind them that it’s never too late to start looking after your teeth.
“It was great to be able to support such a unique initiative for the Clontarf students. The effort shown by the students was simply astonishing," explained Souths Cares Health Officer Kelly Geddes.
Former Rabbitohs and Souths Cares ambassador Beau Champion emphasised the importance of Health Promotion.
“When I was growing up I had a lot of barriers to overcome and I wish I had access to these types of services and events at their age. With the support on hand no dream is too big if you work hard, stay focused, stay healthy, and keep active you can achieve anything you set your mind to," said Champion.
Souths Cares were thrilled to be a part of this event and would like to extend their congratulations to all Clontarf Students involved, all event partners and to Colgate for their ongoing support.
