Indigenous Jersey - Alex Johnston

Alex Johnston explains the importance of the Rabbitohs Indigenous Round and how it lines up with the start of NAIDOC Week.

"Obviously we wore it on the NRL Indigenous Round," Johnston said.

"But this time we are going to wear it during NAIDOC Week so there is obviously a bit more significance with the community and the people."

Representing his family and the Crocodile Clan, Johnston is proud to have his totem displayed on the front of the jersey.

"For me they've got the Crocodile on the front here so to have it on the Indigenous Jersey, to wear it, i think it's pretty special to have my family with me when I play."

With each player representing their community, the design of the jersey links all the totems back to the Rabbit signifying the unity with the Club.

"The Rabbitohs at Redfern have a big Indigenous base and community to get behind us and there are also a lot of Indigenous players and it's special to us that we have this jersey."

The Rabbitohs will run out in their Indigenous jersey in Round 17 against the Penrith Panthers at ANZ Stadium kicking off the start of NAIDOC Week.
