‘I’ll take the two points’ – Allende

South Sydney Rabbitohs women’s team Coach Danny Allende was happy with his side's strong mentality in their narrow 24-18 win over Cabramatta.

After three convincing wins in the opening rounds of the Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership, the Rabbitohs women were put to the test against Cabramatta, who were determined not to go down without a fight.

It was a change of scenery for the Rabbitohs women and Allende was extremely relieved to see his side put another two points on the board.

“I’ll take the two points,” said Allende.

“We knew Cabramatta would come out and play hard, every time we face them they’re ready to go. All I can say is our girls dug deep.”

In a topsy-turvy encounter, which saw the Rabbitohs trail for the first time this season, the Red and Green showed an incredible amount of steel to see off their fast-finishing opponent.

They really dug deep in that last eight-nine minutes in the back end

“We sort of pride ourselves a little bit in the back end, giving that the first three games we’ve only conceded a handful of tries.

“But I was happy to see that they did have something else to give, and I’m really proud.”

It was an intriguing match from start to finish, with the new 60-minute format making its debut but Allende believes the shorter game time was not a concern.

“No I think Cabramatta played really well, our girls just didn’t play to the standards that we’d hope,” Allende said.

“It was a change for sure and a quarter of the way through the season but I’m not worried about that, whatever the decision that NSW Rugby League makes we’ll adhere to, so we’ve just got hit training hard on Tuesday and Thursday.”

After playing back-to-back away games the Rabbitohs women will now get the chance to play consecutive home games and Allende and his team can’t wait to get back out and in front of some home support.

“We’ve got two home games and I’m looking forward to the support from the Souths guys,” said Allende.

“We’ve had some of the burrow here again today, which has been amazing and we’re really appreciative of that and we’re looking forward to coming back home.”
