Be A Part Of Something Big With Souths Cares

Souths Cares needs your help to create a positive youth movement through physical exercise, healthy nutrition and improving student attendance, focus and commitment to school.

The charity arm of the Rabbitohs have launched a Breakfast Bootcamp program but are currently relying on borrowed equipment from Matraville Sports High School and a local youth group. Souths Cares are looking to expand their program and have launched a crowd-funding project to grow their impact in high schools.

A Breakfast Bootcamp involves an early morning training session hosted by a qualified personal trainer which is followed by a healthy breakfast at school. Mentors ensure students attend school on time and we also provide practical, Teacher's Aid support for their first class of the day.

The program goals are to:

“The Breakfast Bootcamps have been great for getting students active and engaged with their education. We would like to expand this program to other schools as well,” said Souths Cares mentor Danny Allende.

With a strong demand or Breakfast Bootcamps at four other high schools who participate in Souths Cares School-to-Work mentoring program, the charity is trying to raise funds to create a ‘Mobile Gym’ to start running programs at other high schools.

The funds will be used to purchase gym equipment including kettle bells, battle ropes, slam balls, a weights sled, weight plates, barbells, fitness mats, skipping ropes, boxing gloves, boxing pads, an outdoor speaker (to play music during training sessions) and storage cases for the equipment.
