Souths Cares and the Rabbitohs Welcome SEDA College Class of 2022

On Tuesday, Souths Cares and the Rabbitohs formally welcomed and inducted 42 students from SEDA College who are commencing Term 1 in the Rabbitohs HSC program this year.
The SEDA College Partnership was first launched in 2016, and over the past 6 years has grown at a rapid pace with this cohort of students being the largest number of students to be involved in the Rabbitohs HSC program.

As well as gaining their HSC, the SEDA students will obtain their Certificate 3 in Sport and Recreation, Certificate 2 in Business and various Coaching qualifications. The program fast-tracks student’s careers into the sporting industry, with hands-on work experience opportunities within the Club’s football and administration departments and throughout Souths Cares’ various community programs and events.

The Induction Day provided a valuable opportunity to discuss ‘the Rabbitohs way’, set standards for representing the Club and build relationships between students, teachers, Souths Cares staff and Rabbitohs staff.

Yoni Charlupski is a teacher at SEDA College and was excited about the upcoming year.

“It’s certainly refreshing to see students out of the classroom and be afforded these experiences and a club like Souths provides them with so many opportunities to give back to the community. No wonder they call Souths the Pride of the League”, Yoni said.

Crystal Overton, Administration and Program Support Officer at Souths Cares will work closely with the SEDA team this year and looks forward to supporting them on their education and training journeys.

“Over my last three years at Souths Cares it has been wonderful to see the growth in our SEDA class and the demand for the program. I can’t wait to work with these students and help them achieve their HSC and begin their careers in the sports industry”, Crystal said.

Enrolments are now closed for 2022, however, there are plenty of opportunities to learn more about SEDA College with upcoming information sessions and campus open days. For more information, CLICK HERE.
