Get to know Sports Dad of the Year nominee, Adam Reynolds away from the football field and as a family man.
Adam and his Partner Tallara have four young children, Nakylah (aged 11), Aaliyah (aged 10), Kobe (aged 6) and Zariyaa (aged 3).
Adam Reynolds achieved a life-long dream this season when he was named as Captain of his beloved South Sydney Rabbitohs. Adam grew up in Rabbitohs heartland on the streets of Redfern, eventually making his first grade debut in 2012.
Two years later, the skilful little halfback played a key role in the Rabbitohs 2014 premiership triumph, breaking a 43-year-premiership drought for the famous club.
Adam has played Origin for NSW and is closing in on 200 first grade appearances for Souths (this weekend). The accurate goal-kicker has scored more than 1,500 points for the club, sitting in second place overall on Souths’ point scoring list behind club legend Eric Simms.
Away from football, Adam is a proud dad to four children with partner Tallara. Adam doesn’t have to think for too long when asked what is the best things about being a dad.
“Just knowing the kids love you unconditionally and watching them grow into happy little people,” said Reynolds.
“I love having them there, especially after games. There’s nothing better than getting a cuddle or a kiss after a game.”
Q&A with Adam Reynolds
Q) Have you found it hard spending time away from the kids during your football commitments?
A) It’s always difficult leaving the gang behind especially on game day. Tallara and the kids try to get to my games as often as possible but things have certainly changed since Covid. - Adam
Q) What have been the challenges with Covid-19 and spending time with the kids and the family this season?
A) Being in a ‘bubble’ has made it very challenging at times. We haven’t been able to get out and about as a family as we normally would. I guess I’ve learnt a lot more about them as we’ve seen a lot of each other this year. - Adam
Q) On game day, do you like to relax with the family, do you have a set routine?
A) I try and keep things as low key as possible but enjoy hanging with the kids as much as I can. - Adam
Q) Have the kids taken a liking to any sports?
A) The kids play netball, Oztag and do cheer leading. We also have a basketball hoop in the front yard and can often be found there shooting hoops. - Adam
Q) What is your favourite activity with the kids?
A) I’m a big wrestler. We have a rumble here and there. Just being out and about with them - when allowed - and doing basically anything with them. - Adam
Q) What are they most memorable moments with them?
A) Birthdays, first days at school, watching them play sport and just seeing them happy makes me smile each and every day. - Adam
Q) Do you have a favourite family holiday destination?
A) Fiji. We’ve been once and we loved it. The plan is to go back one day. Hurry up and find a vaccine! - Adam
Q) What’s the best thing dad does for you?
A) He gives us lots of cuddles and makes us laugh! - Aaliyah
Q) Do you want to grow up and be a sportsman like dad?
A) I love watch my dad play footy for the Rabbitohs. I love Oztag and netball and hopefully one day I can play at a senior level - Aaliyah
