On This Day: Record crowd at Redfern Oval for a Premiership game

On this day in 1987 Redfern Oval registered a record crowd for a Premiership game at that Oval with 23,257 in South Sydney's 16-13 loss against Manly.

After leading 13-8 at the break, Manly came back to win the game in the second half.

Tries to Craig Coleman and Steve Mavin were converted by Mark Ellison (who also kicked a field goal), while Ron Gibbs and Cliff Lyons crossed for Manly.

Goalkicking was the difference in the end with Mal Cochrane slotting two goals and two penalty goals.
