On this day in 1951, the record crowd at Brookvale Oval gathered to watch Manly take on an unbeaten Souths side.

The crowd was so large that it encroaches onto the playing field!

After scoring a vital try near the touchline in the second half, winger Johnny Graves had to run through a corridor of fans to attempt conversion.

When a Manly fan taunted him with "You won't kick this, Graves", the Souths flyer bets the fan that he will and then kicks the goal from touch!
