It’s no secret that the South Sydney Rabbitohs are a community-oriented Club, and now the Official supplier partner Zambrero have shown their sense of community spirit through their Plate 4 Plate initiative, hitting the 30 million mark of meals donated to those in need.
Through this initiative, Zambrero has helped over 74 countries - more specifically Philippines, Madagascar, Timor-Leste and Australia - deliver over 100 shipping containers full of meals to people in need.
As the number of people affected by hunger has increased by 17 million in the last years, the donations will go a long way in supporting the 821 million people around the world facing food scarcity and towards Zambrero’s mission of donating one billion meals by 2025.
Offering healthy and flavoursome food with a conscience, Zambrero’s Plate 4 Plate initiative sees that for every burrito or bowl purchased at any of the 172 restaurants across Australia and abroad, a meal is donated to someone in need in the developing world. Similarly, for every product purchased from Zambrero’s retail range, a meal is donated to someone in an underprivileged Australian community.
In October 2018, 1500 volunteers across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth came together and packed 427,680 meals. In-restaurant celebrations are occurring across the country to mark 30 million meals donated.
Rabbitohs Chief Commercial Officer, Shannon Donato, says that the values between Club and partner have aligned perfectly when it comes to the Rabbitohs and Zambrero.
“The South Sydney Rabbitohs are extremely proud to call Zambrero a partner,” Mr Donato explained.
“Not only do their meals help us with our player's nutrition, but their Plate 4 Plate initiative which helps feed those in need, resonates with the Rabbitohs' community values."
You can find your local Zambrero restaurants in Waterloo, Coogee and Darlinghurst.
