Junior Reps advance to preliminary final with dominant victory

The South Sydney Rabbitohs Harold Matthews (16s) side are one game away from the Grand Final after defeating the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles 40-18 in the first week of finals.

Fullback and captain Joseph Suaalii was the catalyst for the Junior Rabbitohs, scoring four tries as his side avenged last week's loss to the Sea Eagles in Round 9 of the regular season.

But it was their opponents who struck first, with last week's hero Filipo Whitehouse-Opetaia Tovio scoring the opening try of the match.

The rest of the first half, however, was all Red and Green as the Rabbitohs struck up a 22-4 scoreline at the break, with Christian Smirnotis and Carson Kaho scoring before Suaalii bagged a double in the span of seven minutes.

Manly scored two quick-fire tries to open the second period to bring the scores back to 22-18, before Suaalii took control, scoring his third of the day to set up a landslide finish.

Kaho then earned his second of the day, before the captain and fullback charged over for his fourth to secure victory, which also saw halfback Joseph Nohra kicking six goals.

The Rabbitohs will now get the week off, before playing for a place in the Grand Final.
